BUTCH & RHONDA COLEMAN
Butch and Rhonda , whose roots are from Baltimore, Maryland are a musician and songwriting team whose soulful rhythms, heartfelt melodies and cool vibes have captivated the hearts of its listeners throughout the world, having an international appeal.. Their music is unique, refreshing and energizing as they bring their own style of music to the world. Both having roots in the church and with that gospel foundation and jazz background it lends to a spiritual connection which is reflective in their music and reaches the souls of the audience in a positive way.
Both studied at Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland and had the honor of returning to Morgan State University’s,Gilliam Concert Hall to open for fellow Alumni, Maysa Leake (formerly of Incognito). They have delighted their followers at Music Festivals through out the DMV area and have performed to sold out venues such as Blues Alley (Georgetown, Md.), The Tin Pan(Richmond, Va.) and many others.
Performing for a couple of decades, Rhonda had the privilege of being the opening act for such greats as; the late Phyllis Hyman , Al Jarreau , Eddie Kendricks , the Blackbirds and to sing on stage with Chaka Kahn at Baltimore’s Legendary, Hollywood Palace. Butch starting his musical career at a young age, singing with Baltimore’s own Dynamite Five, who many times had the opportunity to open up for such acts at Gladys Knight, The Delfonics, Jackson Five and many others. He continued his career as bass player for The Jury , a Baltimore favorite R& B band who were RCA recording artists known for their single,
“A Place for Love”.
They played bass and keyboards on “Break Free” a gospel song recorded by Committed a singing group who were winners of NBC’s music competition, “The Sing Off”. Butch played bass on Pop Artist Jesse J’s “Price Tag” and “ Abracadabra” from her Platinum album “Who you Are “. “Price Tag” reached #1 in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand.
They have released four albums, Sing Praises, My Heart is For You, Night Sketches and Moment of Your Time available on all streaming platforms.
The songs “Here I Go Again” and “Yellow Butterfly” featuring Rhonda’s vocals from their NightSketches album were included in UK Luxury Soul Album, 2015 a compilation of soul music on Expansion Records.
They currently reside in the Los Angeles, Ca. area where they are performing, writing and recording new music as well as writing for other artists.
The Colemans rich music heritage continues with their Platinum Producer, Songwriter, Grammy
Nominated sons, Joshua (Ammo) Coleman and Jeremy (J-Mike) who have written for many artists in the industry.
